OFFC Win with the last kick of the game!

OFFC’s part-times took on the current Felsted School team on a frosty morning in preparation for the King Cup tie against the Common Room on December 8th. The OFs last performance saw them overcome ’top of the table’ Bancrofts Old Boys at the death at Flitch United.

The late goalscorer Tom Kingham earned his first start for OFFC causing the current Felsted School 1st XI problems down the left; before returning badger Oli Grayson’s short corner routine resulting in a Garth Jones flick on which saw Callum Parradine swivel and notch OFFC 1-0 up from just outside the 6-yard box.

The ever famous ‘post-Felsted diet’ played its part as the students raced through to pass around the onrushing Burns to level the game early on. As always, this didn’t dampen the OFs spirits. James Smithiesta played a perfectly-weighed ball through to Callum Parradine, who took it round the goalkeeper to slot home on his left to put OFFC 2-1 up.

MOTM contender Tommy Burslem’s linkup down the left set a Grayson outside-of-the-foot cross towards the Student’s goal for a fumble to be smashed home by Jacob Misell despite two sliding bodies attempting to block it. The OFs were then caught again with another student racing through to slot past Burns (who notably wore some studs and knees) to make it 3-2 at Half-Time.

The fitness levels caught up with the OFs in the Second Half, with the students equalising with a close range volley to make it 3-3. OFFC recovered and then barraged the students’ goal with corners, a Parradine bicycle kick and two strong Jack Mann challenges to set up the last play of the game from a resulting corner.

Charlie Misell’s corner eventually ended up being cleared off the line in valiant student attempt to take the game to penalties, before Parradine fired back a header from the penalty spot into the top right-hand corner with Jacob Misell claiming a touch to claim his brace and seal the game 4-3 for the Old Felstedian Football Club – a second last-minute winner in as many games.

Tommy and newly-converted Garth stand out as MOTM contenders for their solid defensive work and offensive contribution, but Garth just shades it!
